Foundation + Concealer For Acne Prone Skin?
Hi, I have really oily skin which tends to break out in huge spots if i use certain foundations. I’ve had spots now for about 3 years & I have them on my back & chest, I tend to ignore them only I cant wear certain tops because im very self-concious (people stare)! The face is what people see first & I care about how I look, I was wondering if maybe someone could tell me what sort of foundatioin i could use that might not make my skin break out !?

Good luck.

I would check into Arbonne International’s products. They are all natural with no bi-products, so in another words there products dont clog pores. they even have a wonderful acne line called clear advantage. It has been a life saver for me & my 10 year old daughter. If you would like more info email me at kandkmommie@yahoo.com

Since there are no overnight solutions to getting rid of acne we often have to find creative ways to mask our blemishes. Learning how to apply makeup on acne prone skin isn’t that difficult once you know what to do & what to avoid. And, knowing how to properly cover up your blemishes can really help with your self-esteem.
Start by washing your face gently with cold water & a mild soap. Pat your face dry & then use a toner that doesn’t contain alcohol. The next step is to lightly apply a noncomedogenic moisturizer.
Learning how to apply makeup on acne prone skin will take some time. There is an art to covering up blemishes so they look almost invisible instead of actually making your face look worse. You want to begin with a concealer. Your concealer is what hides your blemishes.
The trick is to use a shade of concealer that matches as close as possible to your skin tone. Apply by lightly dabbing your blemishes with concealer. Gently blend the concealer with the rest of your face but use it sparingly. You can always apply more concealer later but layering it on too thickly at first will make it cake when it dries & you’ll end up worse off than when you started.
The next step in how to apply makeup on acne prone skin is to apply your foundation. (If you have very few blemishes & the rest of your face is evenly toned you may wish to skip the use of foundation altogether.) Like your concealer, foundation is best used sparingly. Start by lightly dabbing it on the surface of your face & then gently blending it in with a cotton ball or disposable sponge. Reapply later if necessary to any areas that may need it.
Now continue with the rest of your make-up routine – eye shadow, eye liner, mascara, & blush. Brush on a little oil-free face powder as the finishing touch.
The purpose of facial powder is to reduce any shine left by your concealer and/or foundation. Face powder also helps to set your makeup. For best results use a large makeup brush & apply a light layer of powder.
It’s important to realize that some brands of makeup may have a negative affect on your skin. Learning how to apply makeup on acne prone skin is one thing, knowing what kinds of makeup you should be using is another.
You want to make sure that any brand of makeup you use will not clog your pores. For starters your makeup should be noncomedogenic. You can also find certain kinds of makeup products that contain ingredients which actually kill bacteria & help clean out your pores.
For hands on help on how to apply makeup on acne prone skin consult the cosmetic counter at your local department store. Some department stores hold special workshops & seminars on makeup application.
When it comes to applying makeup remember less is more. If you don’t know how to apply makeup on acne prone skin correctly you can end up looking worse than you did when your face was naked. A little makeup goes a long way. As I mentioned previously, putting product on top of product can spell disaster if you apply it too heavily. So apply your makeup sparingly. The key is to make your skin look as natural & makeup free as possible. Accent your positive features like your eyes or lips & play down any blemishes & redness by matching your makeup to your skin tone & applying it lightly & with care.
Following are four more tips you should know when learning how to apply makeup on acne prone skin.
Use a cotton swab to apply your concealer
One of the worst things you can do is apply your concealer with its original applicator. Instead use a cotton swab to apply your concealer then dispose of it. By using the applicator & returning it to the bottle you’re simply spreading bacteria.
Always use a fresh facial sponge
The same technique should be used when applying your foundation. Instead use a disposable facial sponge or cotton ball to apply your foundation. You want to make sure that each application is fresh & bacteria free.
Use light strokes
When first learning how to apply makeup on acne prone skin we sometimes end up irritating our skin more. Acne prone skin is also very sensitive skin. It doesn’t respond well to pressure, stretching & may become irritated under layers of heavy makeup. So proceed with care, use light gentle strokes when applying your moisturizer & foundation & try not to stretch your skin too much when applying your eye makeup.

Clinique would be best for your skin, since they have a lot of acne products from their company. It might be expensive, but they have great foundation (& a great foundation brush would be good too) & it is soft on your face. It looks multicolored & spotty but applies rather flawless! Hope I helped.

my aunty has been using a great cover foundation for years & it covers everything. She has a birth mark on her face that she likes to cover. She uses a product called ‘camouflage cream’ from art deco. apparently it is waterproof & lasts ages. not sure where she gets it from though. just googled it, try http://www.mycosmetics.com.au

I advise u go to your doctors first & ask about seeing a dermatologyst! My dr prescribed me with benzoyl peroxide which is a cream that really dries up the skin/oil & actually works! Well saying that it worked a treat on my back & now i can wear whatever i want
) & dont over-wash your face as this makes the skin react badly drying out thus making more oil!
Also go for a foundation that is oil free (i used clarins oil free multi teint light reflecting foundation – go to a department store & ask for a sample

Definitely a mineral makeup.
Mineral makeup is pigments made from natural sources.
The best ones contain no chemicals. Many large companies like loreal & maybelline are now doing mineral makeup but they still contain all the chemicals that are in normal liquid foundations & powders.
I use Everyday Minerals & it only contains 4 (natural) ingredients: mica, iron oxide, titanium dioxide & zinc oxide.
These are natural ingredients & provide natural SPF. They contain healing properties so are really good for sensitive or spot prone skin. They are non-comedogenic which means it doesn’t clog pores & therefore will not cause spots.
It’s really light so it doesn’t feel like your wearing anything.
Because it’s natural, it doesn’t go off so you can keep using it for up to a year.
I used to use clinique & couldn’t even pronounce what was in those products.
Since using mineral makeup, my red, aggravated cheeks are now an even skin tone.
I have oily skin so i find that the finish is so much better. Mineral makeup doesn’t ‘pool’ & smear but looks smooth & even all day.
I think that normal makeup is a vicious circle. You have ‘bad’ skin, so you cover it up with normal makeup which in turn gives you bad skin!
I don’t wear as much makeup now as i used to.
Here’s there website:http://www.everydayminerals.com/g?t=view…
They are very inexpensive, the cost of high street brands like rimmel but it’s much better for you.
Intensive finish gives the best coverage & matte finish is good for oily skin.
Use the mint concealer to hide the redness of spots.
Google ‘mineral makeup’ for more info on the minerals.
Google ‘everyday minerals’ or ‘everyday minerals reviews’ for loads of reviews & blog chatter about it.
